Abstract

The Principles of Islam requirehuman to maintain and improve their moral values BuT in fact, many Moslems face problems of moral deteriora tion, crisis of beliefs, and moral decadence that happenin all aspects of life. This moral deterioration is often associated by the experts of education with the failure of educat ion. The failure of education relates to the education system that has various components that affect each other. The elements needed in the education system are the goal of education , educators, students, tool s, and natural surroundings. The results of this study indicate that the essence of spiritual learning obligations according to Syaikh 'Abd al-Qadir al-Jilaniy is araising the total of truth towards Allah SWT's path. The aims of the learning areto implement knowledge and clean the heart (tazkiyyah al-nafs) from worldly characters and the lust of dirtiness to ma'rifatullah. Spiritual educators are those who practice the law of Allah, clean the heart and guide students to the safety of life in the Hereafter . Learners constantly face Allah and obey Him, do not meet the call besides Allah, listen to the call of Allah and implement everything stated in the Qur ·an and the Prophet tradition. Teaching method used is the method of mau'izhah, sima', ahwal , and muhasabah fial-nafs (introspection). Educational materials are based on the basics of spiritual education in the Qur'an, the Prothet tradition. and the opinion of Muslim religious leaders who have noble characters and integrate science. Moral education is the core of Islamic education. The implications of the spiritual educational thought of Syaikh 'Abd al-Qadir al-Jilaniy toward the reality of Islamic education in Indonesia is the emphasis of moral education that leads to a balance relationship between the exoteric and esoteric aspects of the learning process.

Abstract

For many observers, Banten is well known as an area where the population has a strict religious understanding onislamic law. Colonial officials and experts in Islamic studies such as Snouck Hurgronje and GF Pijper, testified that compared to other Muslims across Java , Muslim in Banten and Cirebon were stricter in practicing Islam . The phenomenon of the social life of the religious community in Banten is necessarily formed within a very long time span. This paper traces the root of the formation of public religious understanding ojMuslim in Banten. Using a socio-historical approach, this paper then leads to the conclusion that the sultan of Banten issued policies that had a greater emphasis to the adherence to the Shari'a rather than Sufism. Religious orientation on the fiqh-oriented can explain the Islamic militancy Banten community, as witnessed by the colonial officials, and even still can be seen up to this present moment.Key words: Jslamization, Sultanate, Banten

Abstract

The rural Sundanese commonly recognize what so-called “pananyaan”, (literary means "who is asked or the place/someone to ask") as someone who has ability to reveal the world of unseen and give advices on all problem brought to him. In the more Islamic sense, he is also called “Ahli Hikmah”. The existence of “Pananyaan” has shown rhe presence of an acculturation. In which the mystic synthesis appeared between Islamic spearum and Sundanese local genius. The case of “pananyaan” within its depelovement is one of the keyword to trace that synthesis phase of mystic intersection. Start on preiminary sketch on “pananyaan” in Sundanese local custom, this paper aims to explore the acculturation domains in “pananyaan” after the emergence of lately established “ahli hikmah”. To do so, i examine three “pananyaan” from different generation, those who represented the different fashion in the ongoing depelovement. In this case, some of “pananyaan” rituals and their magical spells used by these elderly people had, in turn, reflected the traces of that mystic synthesis. Recently, the continuation of what had going on before. is still taking place until recent times in more puritanical direction. Keywords:  pananyaan, ahli hikmah, acculturation, mysticsynthesis

Abstract

Abstract

This article aims to analyze the esoteric interpretation of the Qur'an written in Sundanese. The object of the study is theQuranul Adhimiof Haji Hasan Mustapa (1852-1930). Through the analysis of hermeneutics, this study shows that the local exegesis can not be assumed that it has the same character as the Malay-Indonesian exegesis. Indeed, it shows local creativity born out of the diversity of cultural backgrounds. It also shows the process of the dialogue between Sufism and the inner of Sundanese people in the frame of Qur'anic exegesis. This can be proven in three ways: the interpretation centered on the inner meaning, the use of natural metaphors, and the nuances of Sundanese literature. The significance of Mustapa 'sexegesis lies in the process of indigenization of the Qur'an (Islam) to the characteristics of the local Islamic tradition through the work of Quranic exegesis. This work clearly indicates the local creativity in responding to the intellectual tradition of Sufism, especially the Sufi interpretation. Not only through metrical poetry, he also interprets mystical experiences through theexegesis. Key words: exegesis, Quran, Sufism, Inner, Sundanese
